Texas law requires the clerk of each court to make available to pro se litigants (persons representing themselves in court) information on self-help resources. The Texas Office of Court Administration has compiled many resources of interest and assistance to pro se litigants. That website can be accessed here.

The Texas Judicial Branch also maintains a website for self-represented litigants and is accessible here.

Pro se litigants may visit the Texas Law Help website for information about different areas of law and links to forms that may be helpful in justice court proceedings.

The Texas State Law Library contains a wealth of information and is accessible here.

The Harris County Law Library also contains helpful information and has links to area legal aid organizations. That website is accessible here.

Finally, the Texas Justice Court Training Center has published “Justice Court Information Packets & Forms” for use by self-represented litigants. Although the materials are not legal advice, the materials are helpful for use by those filing or those against whom are filed a small claims, debt claim, or eviction case.
